The Rivers

Halland has 4 large Rivers, From North to South it is Viskan - Ätran - Nissan - Lagan.
The most popular sport fishing catch is Sea trout and Atlantic salmon.
I will here guide you thru the 3 later rivers >


Ätran >Fishing is allowed from 1. April. It is most sea trout that will be caught. The Atlantic salmon starts to arrive in the middle of April and remains until August. The best fishing is in Falkenberg where you will find lots of nice places. The most popular angling methods are fly-fishing and spin fishing with shrimps.

Nissan > Begins 1. March with great Sea trout fishing right in the middle of town, spin fishing is recommended! In May, if the water level is good, the salmon starts to rise but most of it arrives in August/September. For those who love great fly-fishing the pools 8 and 9 is recommended. Lagan > Our biggest river and the river where most Atlantic salmon (about 1500/year thru angling) is caught. The Fishing is normally great at all times from May to September because an energy company controls the water level.
This river offers everyone a place and the most fishing is spinning but fly-fishing is getting more popular every year.
