Salmon

Atlantic salmon is one of the most popular species in Halland. Every year the total catch in angling is over 3000 salmons in the rivers together.

The best rivers are Ätran and Lagan but with good water conditions Nissan has the nicest fly-fishing parts.
The lures that have been successful are tub flies and lures with a weight in 20-30grams in silver ore copper colours.
Flies in size 6 ore 8 in double or triple version is the best and the colours that catch the most are Red-Orange-Black and brown. This colour works with tube flies as well.

The best time in Halland is May until September depending on the rain. But Lagan has controlled water level so there it is good all the time.

One of the best things with the salmon fishing in Halland is that it is only 30km between each river so it is easy to change river.
The following equipment is recommended >
Spin fishing-
Rod - 9 to 12 feet up to 40-50grams cast weight. Reel – with minimum 180m 21 lbs line capacity.

Fly fishing -
Two-Hand rod 12-15 feet  & line weight 9 to 12. Reel – at least 150m 30lbs backing an fly lines from float to fast sinking.
Line tippet minimum 21lbs.
